Health and hygiene practises at NZ altitude training studio for climbers & endurance sport athletes.

The NZ Altitude & Endurance training Centre is a small bespoke studio that prides itself on being clean and hygienic. This has and will always be a top priority to guard the health and fitness of every client using the centre.
With Covid-19 this is a good opportunity to give everyone some insight below into the practices of keeping you all safe when using the altitude training equipment.

All exercise machines are cleaned after each use.
(1) All masks are soaked in a Milton anti bacterial steriliser after each use.
(2) After being soaked in the Milton anti bacterial steriliser each mask is also washed with a soap agent in a 2 step process.
Customers also have the option of purchasing there own elevation mask as many regulars to the centre do.

On top of this in each altitude machine contains a Hepa Filter that has a bacterial/viral filtering efficiency of 99.99% (pictured below)

"Besides getting rid of my asthma, the Altitude taught me how to breathe properly."

Training during a very cold, wet and windy NZ winter is never much fun, so having the option to replace 2 of my outdoor sessions with 2 nice, warm and dry Altitude sessions was absolute bliss. It is also much safer than trying to ride on Auckland’s streets during the day (getting up at 5am is no longer an option). Additionally, being a new mum, my ‘spare’ time was (and still is) very limited, the Altitude is a really great use of an hour – I honestly felt like I’d done 2-3 hours afterwards.

Altitude sessions have been great to use in recovery from an injury when you can’t train at normal loads/weight. With an injury I was able to do active bike sessions at lower loads, but still found that with the altitude I got the same benefits as if I have done a hard interval session. Both in training and racing it has given me an increase in power at a lower effort.
